How do I become more HEART-CENTRED?

In our history, the heart has always been represented as a symbol of health, wisdom, intuition, guidance and higher intelligence. Even the ancient Egyptians, referred to the heart as ieb, believed that the heart (rather than the brain) was the centre of life and the source of human wisdom. The Greeks considered the heart to be an independent source of heat within the body and the Roman’s understood the heart to be the body’s most life-giving vital organ.

💙 Did you know that our heart is pre-cognitive. This means that it feels and acts before the brain can have a chance to think! The Heart Math Institute has done many experiments where people are monitored to see reactions to random emotional images on a computer screen. They found that the heart always responded at least 6 seconds earlier than the brain would respond. This is exciting because it means that the heart feels first and then the brain thinks second. This also means that more information is sent from the heart to the brain rather than the brain to the heart. Think about that for a moment – the heart sends more information to the brain the brain to the heart. Our feeling state (of anger, sadness, joy or happiness) control our thoughts. For example in learning, we would assume that we predominately use our brain to understand the information that we are leaning, but in reality, our heart and our feelings will affect our learning much more. If we are feeling confident and assured then our learning will be easier, yet if we are feeling unworthy and judgmental of ourselves then our learning will take more effort.

💙 Our hearts are the only organ in the body where over 40,000 neurons are clustered together. Neurons are nerve cells which carry electrical impulses. And with so many of these contained within the physical heart, it is no wonder that our heart has such a powerful effect on nervous system.

💙 Our hearts are a hormone-producing organ. It has been designed to reduce stress and anxiety by producing hormones to reduce cortisol (which is the stress-induced hormone).

💙 Our hearts produce the highest electromagnetic field within our bodies, connecting us to our higher consciousness. It has been thought that our third eye point is where we communicate with our consciousness but this area is simply the eyes (or the periscope) to our consciousness yet the heart is where we actually communicate to and from our consciousness and the universal field. This is something that I often tell my clients (and I live this as well) to LEAD WITH YOUR HEART.

💙 Our hearts rhythms will change according to what type the emotion you are feeling. According to Heart Math Institute research, this is the most powerful way to change your hearts rhythm and pattern. In their research, it showed that emotions that cause stress like anger, frustration or anxiety will raise your heart rhythm so that it appears erratic and irregular. These irregular heart patterns overtime will cause undue stress on not only the heart but on our entire body. It also energetically draining on our bodies. This is called a heart incoherent state. In contrast to this their research found that positive emotions like appreciation, joy and love will have the opposite effect on our heart rhythms. The rhythm will become smooth, harmonious and ordered. When this happens our bodies work with ease and more efficiently. This is called a heart coherent state. This means that by simply changing your heart rhythms to a more appreciative, loving and joyful state we intern change our whole body, improving our health and allow us to come from a more relaxed and centred space.

💙 Heart coherence and our heart intelligence are defined by the Heart Math Institute as… “The flow of awareness and insight that we experience once the mind and emotions are brought into balance and coherence through a self-initiated process. This form of intelligence is experienced as direct, intuitive knowing that manifests in thought and emotions that are beneficial for ourselves and others”.

💙 Howard Martin from the Heart Math Institute uses an analogy that the brain is on a radio AM frequency which is all about the sports and news etc. Whereas the heart is on a radio FM frequency which is about music, more variety and things that make our heart sing.

💙 Our heart is an autorhythmic organ, which means that our heartbeat is self-initiated from with the heart, not from the brain. In a fetus, the heart will begin beating before the brain is even formed – at around week 3 where the electrical activity within the brain does not start until week 5 or 6.

These are all the reasons why I love the heart so much and I am constantly amazed by its own power and intelligence. And in knowing more details about how the heart actually works will only help us to make better choices, to be more present in the now and ultimately create a future that is coherent with our highest good. All from a space of love, gratitude and joy.

Finally, I want to pose this question to you… Imagine if we lived in a world where ourselves and others around us focused more on love, joy, gratitude, kindness, compassion and selflessness as much as we focused on fear, anger, resentment, judgement or unhappiness. One where when we spoke with others, our conversations were not filled with drama and our worries, yet they were filled with love and celebration. What type of world would we live in??

It’s important for people to try different ways to let go of all the pain from the past. This book is a great way to introduce yourself with many new and interesting ways you can get to know yourself so you can move forward. Highly recommend all parents to read this book. Beyond The Schoolyard

A lot of people ask me why did you write a book? Why did you write about bullying? Is it something you have always wanted to do? Well here is an excerpt from the Introduction of my book Beyond The Schoolyard….

My name is Debbie Rossi, the author of Beyond the School Yard. I’m going to share with you a little of my personal journey and the heartache that led me to write this book, and what it means to me.

I was bullied throughout my high school years and as a result had low self-value and little self-esteem. The feelings of not being good enough infiltrated every area of my life and affected all my relationships with my parents, my husband, my friends and eventually, my children. I always felt I wasn’t good enough. Not a good wife, not a good daughter, not a good mother.

I struggled with this while trying to be the best person I could be, I knew that these feelings were holding me back. I wanted to be the very best mother I could, and worried that I would project my feelings of low self-esteem onto my children.

I wanted my children to love themselves, be happy and accept who they were in any situation and in every area of their lives. How could I teach them this if I didn’t know how to love myself and didn’t feel these things inside myself?

When I discovered Kinesiology and the benefits it brought to me and my children, I knew it was the answer for me. I pursued Kinesiology personally and professionally and through this practice have been able to help not only myself and my family, but many other clients in my private practice. I will be sharing some of their stories in this book.

There are a couple of reasons why I wrote this book. One reason is to be able to help others the way I was helped. Women, men, even children who are experiencing some of the same feelings can be helped by the insights in this book.

I especially hope that mothers can be helped through reading Beyond the School Yard. Then they can be better mothers to their own children and have them live happily, valuing themselves and their place in the world.

My mission and my passion are to have healthy, happy children both inside and out. If I can make this happen for my four gorgeous children and expand the reach of this love to more children in the world, my wish would be fulfilled and my job here accomplished.

Another reason I wrote this book was to overcome the fear of doing it. If I was going to ‘walk the talk’, I needed to overcome the feelings of ‘I can’t’ and the fear surrounding the task and just do it. So I did! It’s been hard and fearful but exciting all at the same time. Even though it was terrifying and overwhelming, it’s been one of the best things I’ve done in my life (next to marrying my husband and becoming a mum to my four children).

By using this book as a guide, you will be able to break through all those limiting self-beliefs that hold you back in fear, anxiety, worry, stress and anger. There are tools here to help you on a daily basis to slowly change your way of living for a happier, healthier outlook and life. So that you can go Beyond the School Yard.

You are not alone. There are many people out there who are also experiencing the same problems and issues that you are. We all have our inner demons, and we all deal with them in different ways. Many people are stuck in the trauma of past experiences, but there is a way out!

What is outlined in this book is the way that I dealt with my problems – and quite successfully too. I hope that by sharing these skills, you will find success in all the areas of life that you are struggling with. Good luck! Enjoy the journey, as you are about to find a better way to see your past and live in the now, with gratitude and joy!

I am excited for the opportunity to work with Bully Zero Australia Foundation. I came across this not-for-profit organisation and I am proud to be working with them to raise awareness of bullying with a no-tolerance culture in Australia! With every book I sell, a percentage will go directly back to this foundation and help them to continue with the amazing work they do in schools and workplaces. Yoga Therapy for Teenagers

I attended a Yoga Therapy for Kids workshop last weekend and I learnt not only all the benefits of Yoga but also how you can use Yoga to help children (and adults) with conditions like…
Anxiety
Depression
Weight issues
Bed wetting
Asthma
Diabetes
Stress
Healthy digestion
Healthy backs.
I will be incorporating these exercises into my meditation classes for teenagers.

As described in my Zenergy Kids Teacher Training Course Manual… “Yoga correctives are a series of therapeutic exercises that work with the body to bring it back into balance. The aim of corrective exercises is to bring the energy flow back into the meridians and to assist the body in its natural healing process. They correct the functioning of organs, the body systems and correct structural imbalances”.

For example to have a healthy digestive system we need to look at how the Large Intestine functions.

On a metaphysical level our Large Intestine is all about letting go and feeling worthy. You can work with this by understanding that our thoughts do not define who we are, unless we give a thought some energy (more thought) a thought will simply pass through our minds. To help with this you can do simple breathing exercises to help release any unwanted thoughts by closing your eyes, taking in a deep breathe and on your out breathe imagine blowing out that negative thought, out into the universe and away from your mind.

On a physical level our Large Intestine is all about our healthy bacteria levels in our digestive system and also the releasing of waste material. A great way to help with this is to decrease sugars in your diet and increase natural fibres in your diet. To help with the function of the muscles around the large Intestine you can lie on your back with your legs above you and cycle your legs around (forwards and backwards) and to each side – continue this for a few minutes.

Give these tips a go today or you can do them with your children if they are suffering from either the physical or metaphysical side effects of a sluggish Large Intestine.

If you or your child would like more information about my classes, please email me at [email protected] For a limited time I am also offering a free trial session to both my adult and teenage classes.

To your happiness always,

Beyond The Schoolyard, End the bullying forever

I love receiving notes from people who have read my book, Beyond The Schoolyard. Here are just some of them:

“I finished your book last night and just wanted to let you know that I thought it was great. It’s interesting to hear the thoughts of someone going through bullying and I could relate to a lot of it even though I wasn’t bullied like you were. My issues were more from low self confidence, but there were similarities in the feelings. It has some great tips in there and is a must read for any adult that has gone through what you have gone through.” – Carolyn, Berwick.

“I read your book a few weeks ago and really loved it. I had it for a while but I read it just at the right time that I needed it. It really helped reconnect me to my inner resources and I felt it was the perfect blend of inspiration, wisdom and practical steps. It was an amazing first book and I look forward to many more. Also just wanted to say thank you for being a beacon of light to creating a bully free world. My energy and support is 100% behind you and I know your work will make a huge difference.” – Nicole, Warrandyte.

“Debbie captures the essence of the glass half full approach to life. She helps people focus on their strengths and not their weaknesses. When a person is bullied they carry the experience as a burden even when the situation has been dealt with. Debbie offers victims help to remove this burden so they can move on with their life with a increased empathy for others.” – Heather Hawkins, Campus Principal Essendon Keilor College Niddrie Campus.

Victimhood vs Personal Power

Often we get caught in a ‘victim’ mentality with people and situations round us. We feel like we have no control over what is going on externally. I am sure that you have been in this situation and I know I certainly have many times.

When we allow ourselves to fall into the ‘victim’ mode, we fall deep into the emotion of the situation, with many examples and reasons why it is not fair and the poor me mentality comes to full light. Hence we lose our personal power.

Yet if we realise that this ‘victim’ mode is just a pattern of behaviour that we live our life in, then we can move away from ‘victimhood’ into a more logical space and regain our personal power within the situation. It is here in the logical space that we can see what the facts of the situation are, allowing a whole new perspective to come into our light and understanding.

Unfortunately (as I am well aware) this victim mode is something that we automatically go into and it is an easy space to be in as we can blame others around us. Yet to make the change away from ‘victim’ mode it does take a choice and change of behaviour to do this, which only requires practice.

Yes it does only take YOU to make a change in YOUR life.

Victimhood

This all sounds great, but how do I practically start to become this empowered person who is no longer a victim of their circumstance? Here are a few steps to help start making this change…..

  1. Accept that people around you are not going to think or act the way you do. We are all different, so celebrate who you are and your personal values.
  2. Check in with yourself to see how you are behaving and what you are contributing to these circumstances, if you can stand in the light and be true to who you are in kindness, love and compassion then you need to remain in that space and not allow others around you to change who you are (in other words don’t react with bad behaviour because someone else is acting badly).
  3. Be thankful that this situation / person in your life, as they are here to teach you something about yourself and empower you to be strong within yourself.

For me, these simple steps can make a huge difference, as they give you a structure to work with and move you away from that irrational and emotional space that ‘victimhood’ surely brings.

Good luck with it and remember to be kind to yourself as you begin to make the changes within to ultimately make the changes on your outside life.

To your happiness always,

Beginners Meditation Free Trial

Meditation is a tool that I use everyday in my busy life. It helps to centre me and ground me into a space that I can enjoy the busyness of my life. The more you perform meditation, the easier it becomes and the more you can then integrate it into your life when you first feel stressed or anxious.

Meditation brings you into the NOW, where we can listen to what is happening around us right now, as the past is not happening (again) and the future is not here (yet). In the NOW we can only have influence over what is happening right NOW. By changing your thoughts in the NOW, it will change you perception of the past and alter your anxieties of the future. It is a very powerful and important space to be in. Which is one of the reasons why I love meditation so much.

To do start practicing this in your life today, throughout your day remember to focus on your breathe. Breath in for 3 deep breathes, feeling the breathe as it fills your lungs and stomach with air and then on the release feeing the breathe leave your stomach and lungs. Once you have done this once you can then start to step it up a notch by incorporating a colour into the breathe, with each in breathe imagine you are breathing in a white healing light, filling your body with the white light. Then the next step on from this is to incorporate an emotion / feeling into your breathe. I breathe in peace and love and breathe out resistance and anger (these emotions will vary depending on the your day – so feel free to add any emotion here, just always remember to breathe in the positive emotion and breathe out the negative emotion).

I am now running regular meditation classes on a Tuesday at 12pm, this is a beginners class and almost full (as I like to limit these classes to small numbers to allow for a more intimate setting). Today I would like to offer you a free trial of this class to help you enjoy and live the benefits of meditation in your daily life. If you are interested, please email me at [email protected] or call me on 0422 011 180 to discuss further.

Remember guys “The soul always knows what to do heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind to listen”.

To your happiness always,

Kinesiology Awareness Week

Kinesiology has changed my life in so many ways. When I began my journey with Kinesiology 9 years ago I did not even know what it was or even how to pronounce it! How things have changed in the past years as I now use Kinesiology every day in my own life and also to help my children in their lives.

Kinesiology is an effective tool in assessing and understanding the body, mind and spirit. Through using muscle testing (non-invasive) you are able to determine what is ‘stressing’ out the whole body (body, mind and spirit). Kinesiology works from a nutritional level to an emotional issue to an environmental cause or even a spiritual angle. All can be determined and changed through the simple art of muscle testing.

I believe that our bodies have been designed and function to heal themselves yet with so many outside influences and distractions it upsets that fine balance of equilibrium within our bodies. When this balance changes to out-of-balance our bodies can no longer function or even heal themselves as effectively as it has been designed to do. Hence this is where Kinesiology comes in to look at the whole person to re-align the whole person into a balanced state, to ultimately allow for equilibrium within and in all areas of one’s life.

Kinesiology works a lot with emotional triggers as generally most dis-ease begins with emotional dis-ease. By addressing dis-ease on all levels allows ease in healing and life. Kinesiology also works on a physical level to release stresses within the body. It is through this connection of all areas of one’s life that true and lasting equilibrium can occur.

Kinesiology changes for me (to name a few) have ranged from me finally dealing with bullying issues I endured through my high school years, subtle changes to my diet like reducing sugar intake, physical releases of stresses by using trigger points and meridian lines on my body. These changes and many more relieve my body from unnecessary stress in order for me to for me to enjoy and participate fully in my busy life as a business owner and mother to 4 busy children. And because of this I am eternally thankful for Kinesiology in my life.

Written by Debbie Rossi from www.debbierossi.com.au. Debbie is a Kinesiologist, presenter, author of Beyond the Schoolyard (End the bullying forever) and busy mother to 4 children. Debbie is passionate about enabling others to create happy, healthy, confident and successful lives.

Testimonial, Kinesiology Client

Kinesiology is an extremely powerful modality, and there is no requirement to understand how or why it works, however via the profound transformations, often instantaneous, you will quickly learn and want to know more. It is a modality of healing that you just need to “experience” for yourself, its effectiveness cannot be explained, it’s an experience.
Debbie’s Balancing sessions I akin to a “Day Spa for your Soul”, with long lasting and permanent results, that revitalises your entire system. This profound shift then floods into every part of your life often assimilating in gentle and subtle ways, over about 3 days after your session.

Not only have I saved hundreds in physio fees, but immediately after my session, I am quickly back into the swing and in total control of my health and therefore keeping up with my busy and energetic lifestyle. Now I see Debbie weekly, not because I need to, but because her balances are effective on a cellular level, deep profound and permanent. Like exercise, regular sessions keep my entire body in perfect sync and balance, and therefore I am Calm, focused and energised to be the best of myself and therefore give the best of myself to not only my Clients and but to my life as a whole.

Debbie has developed a unique method based on her several years of experience, in contrast to other Kinesiologists, that is extremely powerful and just allows you to completely relax and focus on “you” time. Her methods are backed by science and you only need to chat to any one of her Clients to be convinced of how much of an amazing Practitioner she is, as the results speak for themselves.

You truly are giving yourself, and those that surround you, the greatest gift by indulging in regular sessions. Debbie is a true testament to Professionalism and the practice of Kinesiology; she has passion and drive and always goes above and beyond for her Clients.

Personally, I and my family are her Clients for life.
